$250 Signup Bonus on Chase Freedom Card

Im drooling over this, but haven't decided to bite as of yet. Chase will send you a $250 check after your first purchase when you sign up for the Chase Freedom Card.

Not as lucrative as a fat 0% balance transfer, but sure does look like easy money.

Drooling? Boy, you've got some serious credit card problems.

2mil: If you click the link, you will see the offer is actually 0% Intro APR instead of $250 bonus.

Sun, your right -- loks like they changed it on us. Was $250 a few hours ago.

Of course Im drooling - $250 for maybe a 30min effort -- pretty good return on my credti and time.

I wonder what else Chase can do a fast change act with? 30 minutes time to make $250. Don't you have to BUY something first? If Chase didn't pull a switch-er-roo, how long did you have to wait after the purchase to get your $250? I'm sure it would have been a lot longer than 30 minutes?
Are you happy with your credit card debt?

It switches between the 0% offer and the $250 offer. What's interesting is that I have excellent credit and a relatively high income but didn't qualify instantly for the card. My guess is they're limiting it to people that are likely to have trouble paying off their balance so they can make their money back.

Oops, I spoke too soon...it was there all day yesterday but now appears to be gone.

I just got a offer in the mail from Chase for a 0% balance transfer rate with no transfer fees. Looks like a pretty good arbitrage opportunity. While the $250 cash is tempting, I think I would go for the arbitrage opportunity instead.

Me thinks that people need to read this more carefully. Another blog posted this as well; however, read the fine print and you only get $250 after you accumulated $200 in rebate points. That's $20k on 1% purchases, $6666.67 on 3% purchases. Quite alot of buying for what amounts to only $50 bonus in the end.

Thanks Tim. I rest my case. Credit cards are always a losing proposition. The 'house' always wins.

Maybe I'm not reading the fine print correctly. On my screen, it reads:

"You will receive $200 in bonus rebates which can be redeemed for a $250 check."

That doesn't seem to imply that you'd need to accumulate the points the hard way, rather that you'd be given them after your first purchase. Perhaps someone more clever/savvy could interpret?

I concur with Jen - the offer stated you would receive $200 bonus points after your 1st purchase which can be redeemd for $250.

I called Chase on Thursday re: this offer. The customer service rep. (obviously outsourced to India) flatly told me that they are no longer accepting any card applications with the $200+$50 promo offer.

I told her it was unethical, then, that the Chase website continued to direct a multitude of customers to the card application with the $250 promo link, as I had done.

Argh.

This sounds one of those "gotcha" promos. YOu probably can't withdraw those $250 (or spend it) for like 2 years..

2 Million,

This seems almost too good to be true.

Good luck!

Did you check the fine print...that's where they get you!!

An update: I received the card some weeks ago and was able to cash in the points for the $250 rebate yesterday. Chase estimates May 1 as the date I'll actually receive the check.

I have recieved the cheque for $250.00 too.

I applied & application was confirmed on 5/1/07. made 1 purchase on the card when recieved and just yesterday (6/5/07) points ($200 "reward" dollars) showed up and I requested my $250 check. Gotta love it.

I did this promotion - you do NOT need to "accumulate" the rewards points, they are given upon enrollment. I received my $250 check in the mail. Pretty astonishing!

I recently received another Chase offer - $200 to open a checking account with Direct Deposit from work. You have to actually go to the bank and decline several additional "promos" from the bank manager (make sure they don't open a Savings account for you as well, - they will try to without asking. Don't sign up for "Leisure Rewards" credit card). If after 6 months I'm still contributing by direct deposit, $200 is mine! Too easy!

I think it is dishonest to direct traffic to your site with false promises. The Chase $250 award clearly went away a very long time ago. I guess bait-and-switch works both for CC companies and websites purporting to be there for the consumer. Apparently it's always about the cash no matter who you are.
