Heres a way to offset at least some of the potential damage from a Black Friday shopping spree. ING Direct is offering a Black Friday promotion with a $121 bonus for opening an Electric Orange account. I have not personally used this account previously and don't think I will use it as a primary checking account because it doesn't inclue paper checks.
However it is basically a fee-free (no minimum, usage requirements, etc) online checking account. I figure its worth $121 for 30minutes to open the account and make 3 purchases with the included debit card. Maybe the extra account will be handy going forward.
Fine Print on $121 Account Bonus
- Open an Electric Orange checking with Reference Code EOSAVE.
- Use your Debit Card to make 3 signature transactions (you know, the ones you have to actually sign) within the first 45 days.
- On day 50, we'll put $121 in your account. You have to open today to get the $121 bonus.
Update: Appears ING Direct has extended its Black Friday promotion.
