Bought a Lawn Mower in the Past 14 Years? Get up to $75 back

I saw a commercial last night for this class action lawsuit for folks who bought gas powered lawn mowers between Jan 1,1994 and April 12, 2010. The lawsuit claims that mowers were marketed with misleading or false horse-powered claims.

If you bought virtually any gas lawn mower during this time period you can make a claim in this class action. You could receive up to $35 for a walk behind mower and up to $75 for a riding lawn mower.

In the past 7 years I have purchased 3 gas mowers, one for each property we own. These included 2 walk behinds (Craftsman, Weed Eater) and 1 riding lawn mower (Bolens). I submitted a claim for the 3 mowers and could get up to $145 depending on the settlement (not holding my breath though). The hardest part was finding the engine model number which was stamped in metal that was covered in grime from years of use.

This class action reminded me of the credit card settlement for international transaction fees that was submitted back in early 2008. I looked up the web site and the latest status is this class action is still going through appeals - no outlook on any payout.
