Bill Gates Net Worth
Bill Gates (William Henry Gates III), Co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft has been rated by Forbes as the richest person in the world for the thirteenth straight year as of October 2006.
According to Forbes, Bill Gates' current approximate net worth is $53,000,000,000. Gates' 2006 compensation from Microsoft is $616,667 and a bonus of $350,000 (from proxy statement).
As of 11/16/2006 Bill Gates held 937,499,336 shares of Microsoft. With a recent share price of $29.92, these shares are worth approximately $28,049,980,133.12.
Bill Gates' house cost an estimated $97 million which is about 1/500 of his current net worth. That is like a person with a net worth of $2 million buying a $4,000 house.
Something tells me he does not handle his finances in MS Money like the rest of us ;-).

I have heard that the per second growth of Bill Gates' net worth is so high that if he was to see a hundred dollar bill on the ground, it would not be worthwhile for him to pick it up. Of course, this assumes that the time to bend over and collect a Benjamin impedes his net worth from growing. Which, of course, it does not.

I'll bet you he doesn't know the programs his money managers use to keep his finances in order. Hell he probably doesn't think about what his money is doing all that often.

Yes, Gates is rich. Wanna know how long it takes for him to make a thousand bucks? He just did. Want to try to figure out how far the second hand on a typical clock would go for him to make TWO grand? He just did!
But seriously, the Gates Foundation donates a bunch of money to the needy. However, when critics throw out figures like the top 1% of the population possess 50% of the wealth, (or whatever the figures,) they don't consider that people like Gates are passing some of that down.

Hi. I know this is a really old post I'm commenting on, but I just found your site.
I found an old article from Forbes saying the IRS needs a special computer dedicated to deciphering Bill Gates' taxes.
