Upcoming Home Improvement? Plan Ahead to Save 20% at Lowes

Thru Dec 1st, Lowes is offering a $20 gift card with $100 in gift card purchases. If you have an upcoming home improvement project you might want to consider buying a couple $100 gift cards to stretch your dollars. I went ahead and bought $300 in gift cards. With our rental properties and an upcoming home purchase in the next couple of months I know I will be able to consume at least $360 in supplies at Lowes without blinking an eye in the next year.

With no expiration and no fees on the gift cards the only thing I will be losing is interest on this money. A 20% return in leiu of ~3% interest in the next year is a better deal for me.

In addition I received a $10 off $50 coupon (valid thru 12/24) on my Lowes receipt with each $100 gift card purchase I made.

We just bought a rental in Greensboro, and went today for our first round of supplies: door barricade, motion lights and a dryer vent. We paid in $50 checkout transactions and used each $10 register coupon for the next transaction. If we had used gift cards before hand we would have increased our savings. Still it was definitely worth the drive past HD.

FYI... don't go too crazy with those gift cards. Federal law allows companies to stop honoring gift cards when they file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy ... and you never know what company is going belly up next!

That is a great deal. It is so easy for the bills to add up when you are getting supplies for that next project. This will make our dollars stretch a little further which is great during these times. Thanks for the tip.
Cheers,
Robin

Sounds like something my grandmother just did. She just re-did both bathrooms, counter tops, added a skylight, had the fireplace re-stuccoed, and had the front door replaced.

But she says she has no money to go to the dentist..? Priorities people!
