September 2015 Net Worth Update (-$23,199)

Highlights for September

  • We have earned approx $3,400 (in gift cards, points, and miles) through credit card signup bonuses in the past year.
  • Our properties are listed on our balance sheet based on their cost basis, not current market value. We have done this during the the real estate market highs and lows. I believe real estate is too illiquid to list based on recent sale transactions.
  • Im counting down to an overdue vacation in October - we are planning a family vacation for the four of us to spend a few days down in Florida and then take a Norwegian 7 day cruise. Plan to be an internet/work free vacation.
  • Our investment portfolio declined ~3.65% in September, roughly inline with our benchmark. Im starting to get a little perked up based on market sentiment over the past couple months. I've been thinking the market has been overvalued for a while. Valuations are still very high IMO, but Im starting to think there may be some good investment opportunities ahead soon, we will just have to see if the trend continues. Based on the last financial crisis I recognize it may take some time to develop. Its just hard to be patient.
