Cheap Cruise Excursion in Freeport Bahamas

On our recent cruise to the Bahamas our second excursion was Freeport after we spent a day relaxing in Nassau. We opted to take a paid non-cruise affiliated snorkeling excursion while in Freeport. The port of Freeport is small and there isn't anything near the port other than a souvenir market within the port.

Once the cruise ship arrived we took a taxi from the port to Our Lucaya Marketplace @ $5/pp. We had to wait a bit until there were 10 folks willing to piling in the same van. Once there we opted to take a non-cruise affiliated excursion through Sanddollar cruises @ $45/pp. The snorkeling cruise left Our Lucaya Marketplace a little before 9am and there was only a total of 8 guests on the boat.

While on the boat out to the reef location we saw local aquarium trained dolphins perform on the way out which was a nice unexpected surprise. It took us about 25 min to get to the reef and we were the only boat snorkeling for the first hour or so. Later we moved and snorkeled some more to look for sand dollars. It was a fantastic time. Once we were done we sailed back to the marina while enjoying Bahama Mamas. Overall we were really happy with our snorkeling excursion and felt it was worth price.

After the snorkeling we spent a couple hours walking around the marketplace and doing some souvenir shopping. If we had additional time several fellow cruisers had walked to the accessible beaches across the street from Our Lucaya Marketplace and enjoyed them. If we ever go back to Freeport we'd plan on going back to the Our Lucaya marketplace for the day for more snorkeling and the beach @ $55/pp (taxi to/from + $45 snorkeling); it was a great time!
