Wrapped China Assignment, Round 2
We just wrapped up our temporary assignment in China and arrived back in the US before the end of the year. Its amazing how time flies, it seems like just a few days ago that we began our assignment in China with our young children. Its been an incredible experience with the little ones. While we were not able to move as quickly or all over Asia like we did on our previous China assignment before children, we have some incredible memories and a few once-in-a-lifetime family trips to Thailand, Vietnam, and Yunnan Province China while we were here.

Financially this assignment was about a wash for us. Unlike our initial assignment where we were able to save significantly more of our income while on assignment, with 2 children in tow our goal for this assignment was to maintain our savings rate. It wasnt trival as our company benefits were a bit less than before and our living costs were significantly higher due to higher cost of living in our locale and our decision to leave our primary home vacant while we were away (rather then renting out). When you factor in the travel and life experiences we feel like we came out way ahead.
